Karat Financial builds the financial infrastructure for the creator economy. Founded in 2019 by Eric Wei (former Instagram PM) and Will Kim (ex-Goldman Sachs), Karat helps creators access business credit and banking based on creator income rather than traditional credit scores. The company began with its flagship Karat Card, a business credit card issued by Cross River Bank, and has since expanded into full-service business banking through Grasshopper Bank. Backed by Union Square Ventures, GGV Capital, and SignalFire, Karat has raised ≈ $55 million in equity and extended over $1.5 billion in credit to creators.
