About the Role

Karat is looking for an Engineering Lead — a hands-on technical leader who can design systems, write production-level code, and ship fast while building a world-class engineering culture. You’ll lead from the front: architecting core systems, mentoring a small but high-performing team, and collaborating closely with design and product to scale our fintech platform from the ground up.

This is an opportunity to shape the technical foundation of a company redefining how creators manage their money. For the right candidate, this role could evolve into Head of Engineering.

Responsibilities

• Lead architecture, system design, and technical execution for core products.

• Write clean, maintainable, and scalable code.

• Collaborate with Product, Growth, and Operations teams to deliver new features.

• Mentor engineers and establish strong engineering best practices.

• Drive strategic decisions on infrastructure and scalability.

Requirements

• 5+ years of full-stack or backend engineering experience.

• Proven track record of technical leadership in a fast-paced startup.

• Deep understanding of system design, distributed systems, and API architecture.

• Strong product intuition and ability to work cross-functionally.

• Passion for fintech and empowering creators.
