About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Systems Engineer to lead the design, implementation and management of a multi-tiered data storage and backup strategy for our post-production workflows. The role involves collaborating with both the IT and post-production teams to automate data movement, build scalable archival systems and ensure long-term storage reliability and accessibility. 

What You’ll Be Doing

• Design and implement a multi-tier data storage system that transitions raw video footage from high-cost primary storage to secondary and tertiary storage tiers. 

• Evaluate, recommend and implement cost-effective storage solutions including on-premise systems, cloud storage, and LTO tape systems. 

• Develop automation tools and scripts to streamline data transfers across storage tiers and integrate workflows with the post-production team. 

• Implement and manage archival and backup solutions ensuring redundancy, accessibility and compliance with retention policies. 

• Oversee integration of storage systems with existing IT infrastructure; monitor performance, handle upgrades, troubleshoot issues proactively. 

• Collaborate with network management team to optimize network settings to support video editing operations, monitor latency and bandwidth usage. 

• Develop documentation and reporting on storage architecture, workflows, usage, and system health. 

What We’re Looking For

• Significant experience in post-production workflows: managing and processing video streams, familiarity with video standards, formats, tools, and software. 

• Hands-on hardware proficiency: servers, fiber cables, network switches, video hardware, PC/Mac peripherals. 

• Strong networking skills: configuration, packet analysis, latency optimization, and network infrastructure work. 

• Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems, set up monitoring/reporting systems for video archiving, and improve reliability and efficiency. 

• Experience in scripting and automation (e.g., Python, Bash), familiarity with container technologies (Docker) and machine-learning or AI-driven video processing a plus. 

• Excellent communication skills, collaborative mindset, strong organization and attention to detail.
