The Role

We’re hiring an Engineering Manager, Machine Learning to lead a world-class ML team building the backbone of our next-gen avatar ecosystem. This role combines hands-on technical leadership with strategic management — guiding engineers who are pushing the limits of 3D rendering, generative AI, and real-time personalization.

Based in Los Angeles or San Francisco, this is an opportunity to lead innovation at the frontier of AI + digital identity.

What You’ll Do

• Lead and mentor a team of machine learning engineers to deliver on key technical and performance goals.

• Oversee the design, development, and deployment of machine learning models and pipelines.

• Guide the team’s growth — ensuring skills stay sharp with the latest in ML, AI, and 3D innovation.

• Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, design, and product to integrate ML into Genies’ products.

• Balance hands-on coding, architecture, and leadership responsibilities.

• Drive a culture of experimentation, creativity, and excellence.

What You’ll Bring

• 8+ years in machine learning or related fields, including 2+ years in leadership.

• Strong background in deep learning, generative models (Diffusion, VAEs, GANs, NeRFs), and NLP/LLM technologies.

• Experience with 3D optimization for meshes, textures, and rendering.

• Proficiency in C++ or CUDA for ML-powered rendering acceleration.

• Knowledge of real-time engines (Unreal, Unity) and cloud-based ML deployment.

• Bonus: familiarity with OpenUSD, Houdini, and shader systems.

• Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Data Science, or related field.
