The Role

We’re seeking a Senior Research Engineer to join our core AI team in San Francisco (Bay Area). This role drives the frontier of agentic reasoning, social intelligence, and generative AI, shaping the minds and personalities of millions of digital avatars.

You’ll own the end-to-end research and development of our next-generation AI systems—bridging cutting-edge research with real-world, large-scale deployment in gaming and social simulation environments.

What You’ll Do

• Architect and implement agentic reasoning frameworks enabling avatars to plan, use tools, and interact dynamically.

• Design and optimize LLM post-training pipelines (RLHF, DPO, GRPO) to shape avatar personality, empathy, and conversational intelligence.

• Advance socially grounded intelligence through memory, context-awareness, and long-horizon interaction.

• Build data pipelines and benchmarks for evaluating avatar quality, safety, and realism.

• Translate foundational research into production-ready systems that directly improve Genies’ user experiences.

• Stay on the frontier of AI agent and multimodal research, experimenting with new architectures and training methodologies.

What You’ll Bring

• PhD or Master’s in Computer Science, AI/ML, or a related field (or equivalent applied research experience).

• 3+ years of hands-on experience in machine learning and LLM post-training (RLHF, SFT, RLVR, etc.).

• Strong engineering proficiency in Python and frameworks such as PyTorch, JAX, or TensorFlow.

• Experience developing LLM-based agentic systems (planning, reasoning, tool use).

• Strong problem-solving ability and autonomy in defining and executing research agendas.

Bonus Skills

• Publications in top-tier AI conferences (NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, ACL, EMNLP, etc.).

• Experience with multimodal AI (language + vision/3D/speech).

• Background in distributed model training (PyTorch Distributed, DeepSpeed).

• Passion for gaming, AI companionship, and creative simulation.
