The Role

We’re hiring our first Infrastructure Engineer — a hands-on technical leader to design, build, and operate the foundation powering Polar’s platform. From payments orchestration to global payouts, our systems demand world-class reliability, scalability, and trust.

You’ll own infrastructure end-to-end, set technical direction, and collaborate closely with backend engineers to make sure Polar’s systems stay fast, resilient, and simple enough for everyone to contribute to.

What You’ll Do
• Architect, build, and maintain Polar’s infrastructure — design, deployment, scaling, observability, and security.
• Define infrastructure standards, best practices, and reliability processes (SLOs, on-call, postmortems).
• Implement deep observability across metrics, tracing, logging, and alerting.
• Build CI/CD pipelines and developer tooling for maximum velocity and safety.
• Improve production security, compliance, and data protection.
• Partner with engineering to design scalable systems for billing and financial operations.
• Mentor backend engineers to confidently handle infra and incident response.

What You’ll Bring
• 8+ years in infrastructure, SRE, or backend engineering roles.
• Proven track record with high-availability, high-security systems.
• Deep expertise in AWS/GCP and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Pulumi).
• Strong skills in observability, incident response, and reliability engineering.
• Collaborative mindset — you design systems others can understand and maintain.
• Clear communicator and technical leader who elevates the team.
• Comfortable being the first dedicated infra hire and shaping the foundation.
