The Role

We’re seeking a Staff or Principal Backend Engineer to architect and scale the systems that power Framer’s creative engine. You’ll own the APIs and backend services that enable real-time collaboration, publishing, and performance at global scale.

This role is for a senior technical leader — someone who can design elegant distributed systems, write world-class code, and guide a team through complex scaling challenges.

What You’ll Do

• Architect and maintain scalable, well-documented APIs and backend systems.

• Lead technical decisions around scalability, reliability, and performance.

• Partner with designers and engineers to deliver impactful features across Framer’s ecosystem.

• Define infrastructure strategy and architecture patterns for a global platform.

• Review code, mentor peers, and enforce engineering excellence.

• Build resilient systems capable of supporting millions of users in real-time.

What You’ll Bring

• 9+ years of backend engineering experience at a product-focused company.

• Expert-level Go development skills.

• Familiarity with TypeScript, Node.js, and microservices architecture.

• Deep experience building and operating large-scale distributed systems.

• Strong background with Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS infrastructure.

• Strategic, detail-oriented approach with strong ownership and leadership skills.
